Filmmaker Cy Kuckenbaker attracted the internet’s attention in 2012 when he created the ultimate air show-condensing four hours of San Diego plane traffic into a now-viral 30 second clip.

The San Diego Studies is a series of short videos that collapse time between events to reveal otherwise unobservable rhythms and movement in the city. The series is a work in progress and reaction to dominant narratives that frame San Diego as a small, quite beach town. The time between objects and events is removed from observational documentary footage using a number of video editing techniques.The videos have no CG elements.
